In 2001 I was invited to Japan by my friend Hiroshi Chu Okubo who had seen a prototype for a musical instrument that I was working on when he visited Chicago.

I hand-built the electronic keyboard out of walnut, cherry and maple out of respect for the rich tradition of Japanese woodwork and then built the electronic guts by hand as well. The glue was still drying as my plane landed at Narita Airport. Pictures from some of the concerts can be found here and here.
