Cinema Lobby, 2002

This cinema lobby is an adaptive reuse application for aging and vacant office buildings in downtown Los Angeles. The idea is to strip portions of the original structure to steel frame and to then embed lofts into the steel frame. Cinemas, cafes and other community-based commercial units can be woven into the residential structures. Designed under the guidance of Robert Mangurian's 2002 Cinema Studio at the Southern California Institute of Architecture.
